In ON MY SKIN, Marta Lodola reenacts gestures drawn from a biographical experience of an abusive relationship while reflecting on the many forms of violence—psychological, emotional, and financial—that can shape an individual’s life. The performance explores the conflict between recognizing abuse and being unable to leave, culminating in the moment when escape becomes possible. Marking the closure of a cycle of suffering, the work emerges after fourteen years of healing and recovery. Through body and narrative, it highlights resilience and forgiveness as pathways toward closure and self-reclamation.
