Site-specific performance-installation by Marta Lodola, duration 3 days. Materials: wood, shoes, frame, Jonathan Livingston Seagull book, black dress, rope, coins, soap bubbles kit

Event Festival InTeatro 2014, Ancona

The construction of the house – the installation – took about two days, prior to the performance. Several people who used to frequent the park in Polverigi helped me. One in particular came every day to visit me and gave me the best advice. I think that thanks to them, this part of the preparation has become part of my work. Creative collaboration makes us learn from the people around us.

The performance takes place inside the house-installation. From the upper beams hang household objects that clash with a visibly empty and bare structure: high heel patent leather shoes, a frame, Bach’s book “Jonathan Livingstone Seagull”, a black evening dress and copper coins. Crouched on the floor in a white dress, I blow soap bubbles, trying to build walls that disintegrate in the wind.
