Gentrification II

This body of work emerged during my first winter after moving to Berlin. I witnessed firsthand how gentrification was erasing, and in some cases literally burning, iconic buildings that had defined the city’s vibrant underground scene. As the cost of living pushed people out of the city center, a sense of sadness settled in, reminding me of the fragile future we face. Yet, amidst this melancholy, I found a strange sense of relief—a moment to reflect on the possible catastrophic future, and with it, the potential for transformation and rebirth. It became a meditation on change, loss, and the quiet hope that new possibilities can rise from the ashes.
