This series of illustrations is a powerful tribute to women’s resilience and their fight for human rights. It honors women who bravely stood at the forefront of societal change, yet many paid the ultimate price. Some were victims of feminicide, others died under mysterious circumstances, and one—Anna Politkovskaya—was murdered for exposing the truth about the atrocities of the Russian government. Through this work, I want to scream their names and immortalize their legacy.
I draw inspiration from the Amazons, ancient communities of women who lived autonomously before being violently subdued and forced into marriage by abusive men. I also honor Frida Kahlo, Ana Mendieta, Marilyn Monroe, Venus, Cleopatra, and many more, all of whom represent different aspects of feminine strength, beauty, and the relentless pursuit of truth. This series is not just a collection of illustrations; it is a call to remember these women, their stories, and the ongoing struggle for justice.
