Ode To The Hawk

Photo performance by Marta Lodola in collaboration with the photographer Sven-Gabriel Schwalke, 2026, Grunewald.

A prayer to nature for protection during rebirth—an intimate ritual of devotion to the figure of the hawk, which embodies both the sun and the moon, symbolizing the integration of lightness and power. The only witness is the one who receives and makes this ritualistic action visible to the world.

What if nature is the only place we can return to once we have fallen? How do we learn to fall so that we may look to the sky and rise again?

When we move through life with devotion within our ecosystem, our perception of the world around us shifts, opening the possibility for a widespread network of meaningful listening and communication. Human beliefs were born beneath the trees, within a sacred space of protection. A ritual is a return to our origins, where knowledge guides presence, allowing us to become part of an infinite web of living beings.

Humans are not the only ones who rule, but are also shaped and moved by their relationship with them.
