2021
Video performance Marta Lodola, duration 17:23 min, Stereo. Materials: tree branches, husk of chestnut, river’s rocks, stillness
Walking alone in the forest I grew up means something special to me. A deep re-connection with my homeland, an intimate dialogue with the natural environment. In January 2021 I went back to my home town for six months. Before and after the pandemic isolation and my Covid infection, I spent my time in the forest alone almost every day.
During that time I noticed how many trees suffered from the climate change, watching them eradicated and laying on the ground. During the past 20 years all pine forests almost disappeared slowly from that part of the region, leaving space for less stable roots and consequential landslides. Only taking care again of the environment we can save it.
We have to start defending our territories, our lands, our soil and our trees. Our environment is asking for help.
